Sessions

Although they’re not part of FolkActive, all of us love playing and dancing in folk sessions. They’re a fantastic way for people to make music together in an informal and supportive environment – community music at its best! We were closely involved with setting up these local sessions and we’d love to help if you’re looking to build a similar community in your area.

English tunes session

English Tunes SessionThere are many hundreds, probably thousands, of great tunes published in England over the centuries. Some are still current, but many of them have fallen out of circulation, and there are so many just waiting to be rediscovered. Come and help with the process – share your old favourites and new discoveries, learn fresh tunes and develop new playing styles.

Second Tuesday of the month from 8.30 pm at the Platform Tavern, Town Quay, Southampton SO14 2NY.
